I'm Kim and I'll be your guide. I created WTX Mountain Fitness after I noticed a substantial divide between people who take advantage of the amazing area in which we call home,
and people who don't, mostly because they lack the confidence to venture into the wilderness. That lack of confidence is attributed to not having the physical conditioning and ability,
or not having the knowledge to stay safe and navigate effectively.
I spent a few years in the U.S. Army and almost a decade as a civil engineer before I decided it was time to get out of the office for good.
I've been wandering the hills solo my entire life and want to bring that confidence to others by doing what I love.

WTX Mountain Fitness was created with the intention of blending the pursuit of fitness and health with a desire to get reacquainted with nature
and all the fun and rewarding activities it provides. Workouts don't have to be tedious, nor do they have to be done in the gym.
Ultimately, we believe that living intentionally, expanding our capabilities, and pursuing self-mastery lead to us being healthier, happier, and more fulfilled.
While modern society has eased many burdens of daily life, it has also outsourced core competencies critical for independent survival.
We feel empowered when we reclaim these fundamental skills and practice them regularly. It enables us to tackle challenges with calm competence,
whether in civilization or the wilderness.

Beyond survival basics like starting fires and finding your way home, we'll teach you how to thrive comfortably outdoors through trip planning, gear selection, and Leave No Trace ethics. Cultivating these abilities allows you to experience nature more intimately, safely, and with confidence. It builds awareness, grit, adaptability, and appreciation for the natural world.
Today's world is increasingly vulnerable to disasters, both natural and man-made. The antidote to fear and uncertainty is knowledge, and we'd like to share it. We can incorporate elements of at-home and on-the-go "prepping", basic first aid, and situational awareness techniques into other training programs, or create a stand-alone program if that's your focus. Self-reliance reduces panic during catastrophes and provides comfort that you can handle whatever comes your way.
